EV Servicing Guide for Singapore
Electric vehicles have fewer moving parts than petrol cars, but they still require regular servicing — especially for their high-voltage battery systems and software.
What EV Servicing Covers
- Battery health check — Measures state of health (SoH) and flags degradation early. Recommended annually.
- Brake fluid — Still needs replacing every 2 years; regenerative braking reduces pad wear but not fluid.
- Tyre rotation & alignment — More critical for EVs due to heavier kerb weight and instant torque.
- Air-con filter & cabin filter — Same interval as petrol cars; dusty Singapore conditions mean every 1–2 years.
- Software updates — OTA or in-workshop; can improve range, add features, and fix bugs.
Authorised vs Independent
- Authorised centres use OEM parts, have proprietary diagnostic tools, and are required for warranty work. Typically more expensive.
- Specialist independents offer competitive pricing and cover multiple brands. Safe choice for post-warranty servicing.
- Always check that any workshop is SkillsFuture EV Accredited and LTA-licensed before bringing in your EV.
- Battery-related work should only be done at authorised centres or SkillsFuture-accredited specialists to avoid voiding warranty.
Typical Service Costs (SGD)
- Annual inspection + rotation — $120–$250
- Brake fluid replacement — $80–$150
- Battery health report — $80–$200
- Cabin air filter — $60–$120
- Tyre replacement (x4) — $600–$1,400 depending on brand
- Full software diagnostics — $100–$250
